The dawn of February 2nd witnessed an overwhelming enthusiasm on the roads of Salt Lake where more than 1,000 participants from 70 corporate houses of Kolkata along with 1,000 TCSers took part in TCS Fit4life Corporate Challenge Kolkata – a mini marathon of eight kilometres.
“2D bar coding system” was introduced for the first time in Kolkata for the TCS Fit4life Corporate Challenge in collaboration with RFID team which not only ensured a timely and smooth registration process but also lived up to TCS’ commitment of doing things innovatively.
The esteemed Guest-in-Chief, P.K. Banerjee, a renowned footballer, an Olympian and Gold Medalist in Asian Games, gave an inspiring speech to the crowd gathered at the venue – Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Stadium, Salt Lake(Salt Lake Stadium).
The run was never short of enthusiasm and energy as the likes of former footballer, Mohidul Islam; athletes Sanjay Kumar Rai, Satpati Pal and Soma Biswas; Chess champion Dibyendu Barua and former Police Commissioner, Gautam Moham Chakraborti had come to encourage the participants.
The 1st(36:31:08) and 3rd prizes in the male category went to Hyatt Regency, while the 2nd prize went to Normura and the 4th to TCS. In the female category, the 1st prize(01:00:41) was won by Dynamic Digital Technologies and TCS bagged the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions.
In the group prizes, the Highest Number of Participants by a Corporate Trophy went to Axis Bank and their team of 76 runners.
For some, the event was a substitute for their daily workout, while for others it was an opportunity to kick-start their long-drawn resolution of exercising and staying fit.
