The early morning air was charged with energy as over 2500 participants took to the streets on “8th February 2015” running in the TCS Fit4Life Corporate Challenge– mini marathon of 8KM. The enthusiastic runners cutting across different age groups dispelled all notions of Sunday mornings being lazy. For some, the event was a substitute for their daily workout, while for others it was an opportunity to kick start their long drawn resolutions of exercising and staying fit.
Following the overwhelming success of the first edition TCS Fit4Life Corporate Challenge Marathon in Kolkata in 2014,the event this year saw a lot of interest and participation from 59 corporates supporting TCS in its commitment to promote fitness and social upliftment through the platform of TCS Fit4Life.

Esteemed Chief Guest “Mr. P.K. Banerjee” – renowned footballer, an Olympian and Gold Medalist in Asian Games gave an inspiring speech to the crowd gathered at the venue – Salt Lake Stadium
Messages of encouragement were also shared by eminent footballer Mr. Shyam Thapa who was a Guest of Honour along with other dignitaries. The event was inaugurated by lighting of the ceremonial torch following which the race was flagged off.
The participants started the run at 6:45AM from the venue and following a route spanning 8KMs around Karunamoyee in Salt Lake, they returned to the venue.

The 1st and 2nd prizes male category went to Hyatt Regency while the 1st and 2nd prizes female category went to iLEAD. The 3rd prize in male category was claimed by Novotel while the 3rd prize in the female category was bagged by TCS

In the group prizes, the Highest Number of Participants by a Corporate Trophy went to CMC and their team of 60 runners while iLEAD bagged the trophy for maximum female participation.
All winners chose to contribute their prize money to TATA Medical Centre – TCS’s charity partner for the event. Apart from this a substantial contribution was made to TATA Medical Centre from TCS to support them in their charitable endeavors.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Sridhar Bakshi who thanked the participants for their zeal in making this event a grand success.
Fitness and Corporate Sustainability is a way of life in TCS and with this event we continue to take it beyond the boundaries of the organization to other corporates in Kolkata.
The initiative was wholeheartedly supported by Corporates, TCS participants and volunteers. The successful completion of the second edition of TCS Fit4Life Corporate Challenge in Kolkata has gone a long way in establishing the commitment of TCS to fitness and social causes. The participants parted looking forward to a bigger and grander event in the coming year.
