Roads leading to Hinjewadi – Pune witnessed heavy traffic and that too on a Sunday early morning. Many fitness enthusiasts were up and alive even before the birds could wake up… Yes..!!. There was a reason – It was the “TCS Fit4Life corporate challenge 2014” that had drawn more than 2700 people from more than 50 corporate houses who gathered at TCS Sahyadri Park campus to run an extra mile towards their fitness.
Warm Up Exercise – Before the Run
TCS Pune welcomed all the participants to their Sahyadri Park campus, set in the scenic foot hills of Sahyadri mountain range, with music and people sharing the common interest. Music playing in the background added to the zeal. Participants gathered by 6:30 AM to join Striders team (our fitness partner) for the warm up exercise.
To grace the event we had Mr. Chris Rogers from HSBC – Global Head of Management Services and Centre Director – as the chief guest who flagged the event. Chris himself is an ardent football fan and a fitness enthusiast himself. Mr. Milind Lakkad, VP Manufacturing Vertical – TCS and Mr Arvind Padhye (Delivery Centre Head, Pune), welcomed Chris Rogers and flagged the event together.
Professionals started their 5 mile run dressed in colourful sports gear was like a kaleidoscope formation throughout the running track. Runners as young as 11 years of age and veterans older than 70 years participated in the 5 mile marathon.

We had the first male winner (Gaurav – Ace Feeds) hitting the finish line in 32.28 minutes followed by the 2nd and 3rd runner up finishing in 32.44 minutes (Rahul – Ace Feeds) & 33.43 minutes (Amitosh – Symantec) respectively.
The first female winner (Aparna – Sungard) reached the finishing line in 43 minutes followed by the 2nd and 3rd runner up finishing in 45.07 minutes (Prita – TCS) & 45.28 minutes (Rutuja – Persistent) respectively. Aparna from Sungard has been the consecutive first prize winner in Fit4life Corporate Challenge 2013 & 2014.
The first place winners were given a cheque of Rs. 50000 each, 2nd place winning amount was 25000 each and Rs. 15000 to the 3rd prize winner. All the winnings would be donated to charity by the winners. Giant bicycles – our principal sponsor – sponsored a sports bicycle to the first male and female winners each.
TCS also recognised the company with maximum participation by giving trophy and a cheque of Rs 10000. Bank of Maharashtra was the company with maximum participant with 264 associates. Out of the total associates from Bank of Maharashtra, 61 associates were females for which a trophy was given as a token of appreciation
Top 3 companies with maximum participation were Bank of Maharashtra, Tata Motors & Synechron.
To add to the excitement, there was a flash mob dance which made the participants get into their dance shoes and swing to the tune of music. The energy was unmatched – the place looked as one platform of happiness and joy sharing. People ran miles to bring smiles on theirs and many others.
