It was all about energy, passion and action!!! On the dawn of “February 23, 2014,” the Durbar Hall ground witnessed over 2300 people running miles and bringing smiles; marking the spirit of “TCS Fit4life”.
TCS in association with Cochin cancer Society organized a charity initiative -“TCS Fit4life Corporate Challenge – Run Miles & Bring Smiles” to instill a culture of wellness amongst associates, promote solidarity amongst teams and contribute towards an honorable social cause as an organization.
The TCS Fit4life Corporate Challenge was a five mile run open to all companies and their employees in Kochi, where teams with a minimum size of four members with at least one woman participant contributed to this social cause with laudable enthusiasm. Over 2300 participants from over 40 corporate and government institutions participated in the event. The event also was supported by 14 partners who used it as a platform to support the runners with their products and services.
The participants started entering DH ground as early as 5.45 am. Soon Durbar Hall ground and the premises turned Red as more and more people walked in wearing their bright red TCS Fit4Life T-shirts expressing solidarity towards the charity run.
The event began with the flag off at 6.30 am by Mr. Sudheer Warrier VP TCS and Mr. Hari Veloor, Zonal Head HDFC with Dr. P.T.Mathew, PGM –BSNL as the lead runner. The famous “Pancharimelam” of Kerala by the local artist groups set the rhythm and brought in the festive mood for the crowd. The runner’s contingent was accompanied by a matrix of cyclists and bikers.
The event saw high levels of competitiveness amongst regular runners and had some thrilling moments at the finish line. It was a moment of Pride for Team TCS as Hari MR one of our male associate finished third at the event. All the finishers were greeted and garlanded with Finisher medals by the kids of TCS Family members. After the run the stage was set ablaze by the TCS Music and Dance clubs.

In a rare display of spirit and commitment, among the participants was a seven-year-old boy, a 77-year-old veteran with prosthetic limbs and a few differently-abled people. Later, they were felicitated during the closing ceremony. Service personnel from the Indian Navy, Kerala Police and the Customs Department also took part to promote the cause of fitness.
Prestigious guests famous Cine Artist Miss Aparna Nair, famous Oncologist Dr. VP Gangadharan, Vice President TCS Mr. Sudheer Warrier and Regional HR Head TCS Ms. Geetha Manoj graced the occasion and distributed various prizes.

Several family members including children joined the participants in support of the cause. TCS Fit4life Corporate Challenge – Run Miles & Bring Smiles was a roaring success with passionate levels of interest from all associates and partners. The tremendous success of the run has demonstrated the commitment of TCS to make a difference to the community in which we live and work, upholding the Tata group’s philosophy of contributing to social causes.
